Mattel Children’s Hospital is located at the 3rd floor of UCLA Medical Center.

In 1995, Mattel Children’s Hospital became a member of the “National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions” and was classified as a "hospital within a hospital."

In 1998, the hospital was renamed the Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA in recognition of a generous pledge to the hospital by Mattel, Inc. By September 2007, the Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA will be housed in a new state-of-the-art medical facility UCLA plans to build to replace the current UCLA Medical Center. Construction of the new medical complex, designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei, began in 2000.
