CPCCRN and the Utah TIC are collaborating to expedite IRB processes via the SMART IRB Exchange. How will this work?
First off, the SMART IRB Exchange is a communications portal IRB’s can use to talk to each other. The thought behind its creation is to enable a CIRB to work directly with local IRB’s to come to an agreement on a study review.
The amount of time, money, and communication between the CIRB, all sites, and local IRB’s is expected to decrease. This should expedite the entire IRB approval process by enabling near real time discussion between participating IRB’s and a one time approval, even cutting out the facilitated review!
